Cyprus is an island entwined in history, mythology and people. At the crossroads of three continents, Cyprus is the most welcoming place in the world, where lunch can take 2 hours or more, communities embrace strangers and the pace of life is relaxed. It’s a place where you can be skiing in the morning in the snowy pine clad mountains of Troodos and then swim in the warm Mediterranean waters in the afternoon.
Cyprus is a place for living! For retirement! For fun!
Cyprus offers spectacular scenery and tranquil, timeless villages alongside modern cosmopolitan towns ; luxurious beaches and exciting leisure pursuits. Cyprus is the year round island for people who want to experience the best that life has to offer.
Situated on the east side of the Island, Protaras covers approximately 5km of the golden Famagusta Coastline. As the major tourist resort in Cyprus it attracts both Cypriots and holiday makers from all over the world. Protaras flourished into a charming tourist resort in the 1980s as a more sophisticated alternative to the buzzing and wild atmosphere of its neighbouring town; Ayia Napa (located 5 miles west of Protaras). Protaras became an idyllic holiday resort largely due to the beautiful sandy beaches in its vicinity. There are several excellent beaches, each developed to appeal to a particular type of holidaymaker. For instance, the main beach “Fig Tree Bay”, regarded as one of the most popular beaches on the island, offers a wide range of water-sports, while to the north of the coastline, the tranquil waters of Skoutari Beach, make for great snorkeling.
The sea caves (Cape Greco) along the Protaras coastline are ideal for those who like to explore. There are unique rock formations, arches and hidden coves to appreciate and photograph. Cape Greco is a protected nature park and is for this reason popular with photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and those who just want to find a secluded bay in which to swim and relax. The bars and restaurants in Protaras provide a variety of entertainment ranging from traditional Cypriot dancing and meze meals to modern discos and International cuisine. Many leisure pursuits are available locally including horse-riding, go-karting, fishing and sailing.
Protaras is in an ideal location with Larnaca International Airport just 25 minutes away.
